These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Epiloca application, website, and services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read these Terms carefully before using our Service.

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, you may not access the Service.

1. Accounts

When you create an account with us, you must provide us with information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our Service.

You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password, whether your password is with our Service or a third-party service. You agree not to disclose your password to any third party. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.

2. Acceptable Use and Conduct

You agree not to use the Service in any way that is unlawful, or harms us, our service providers, suppliers, or any other user. You may not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any aspect of the Service.
• Attempt to bypass or break any security or rate-limiting mechanism on the Service.
• Use the Service for any unauthorized commercial purposes.
• Scrape, datamine, or otherwise extract data from the Service in automated ways without our express permission.

3. Communications

By creating an account on our Service, you agree to receive transactional emails containing system notifications and account alerts. You may opt out of these non-essential notifications at any time through your account preferences. We are committed to your privacy and do not sell your contact information to third parties.

4. Device Permissions

The Service is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that may request access to your device's camera (for barcode scanning) and location (for mapping features). You retain full control over these permissions via your device or browser settings. Denying these permissions may limit your ability to use certain core features of the Service.

5. Subscriptions, Tokens, and Payments

• Billing: We offer premium features and lookup credits via subscriptions and pay-as-you-go tokens. All billing is handled securely through our payment provider, Stripe.
• Subscriptions: Some parts of the Service are billed on a subscription basis. You will be billed in advance on a recurring and periodic basis (such as monthly or annually), depending on the type of subscription plan you select. Your subscription will automatically renew under the exact same conditions unless you cancel it or we cancel it.
• Tokens: Tokens purchased for API lookups or other features are non-refundable and do not expire as long as your account remains active. Tokens are consumed upon successful usage as defined in the app.
• Fee Changes: We, in our sole discretion and at any time, may modify the Subscription fees or Token prices. Any fee change will become effective at the end of the then-current Billing Cycle. We will provide you with reasonable prior notice of any change in fees to give you an opportunity to terminate your Subscription before such change becomes effective.

6. Real-World Interactions and Public Locations

Our Service facilitates the exchange of books at public drop boxes and other physical locations. You acknowledge and agree that Epiloca does not control, supervise, or maintain these physical locations and is not responsible for the conditions, safety, or security of any drop box or its surrounding area.

Your interactions with other users, and your visits to public drop boxes, are entirely at your own risk. Epiloca expressly disclaims any liability for any property damage, loss of items, personal injury, or other harm that may occur during the fulfillment of drop requests or any other real-world activities related to the Service.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of Epiloca and its licensors. The Service is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the United States and foreign countries.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease. If you wish to terminate your account, you may simply discontinue using the Service or delete your account from the dashboard.

9. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall we, nor our directors, employees, partners, agents, suppliers, or affiliates, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service; (ii) any conduct or content of any third party on the Service; (iii) any content obtained from the Service; and (iv) unauthorized access, use or alteration of your transmissions or content, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence) or any other legal theory, whether or not we have been informed of the possibility of such damage.

10. "As Is" Warranty

Your use of the Service is at your sole risk. The Service is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. The Service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or course of performance.

11. Changes

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the Service.
